Adobe Flash Player And Firefox Problems
A couple of days ago, I wrote about some of the problems that the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player was producing. I asked my “Marketing Update” subscribers to look at two test videos I’d created - one in the .FLV format and one in the .SWF format. You can see the tests here.
About 100 people gave me feedback, and only two people reported a problem. One of these said that he’d been able to overcome the problem by installing the Adobe Media Player, and this seemed to fix everything.
The Flash Player version which most people were using was 9,0,124,0
“Update” subscriber Les Crockford pointed me towards an excellent article in cNet specifically on the Flash / Firefox problem:

There’s also a couple of suggested fixes from the same source:

Les also indicated another Firefox problem he’d encountered. He wrote:
“You may already know about this following information but I thought I’d pass it on in case you or any of your readers might have had problems logging in to Gspace. Another Firefox problem I recently had was that after downloading the most recent version I couldn’t login to Gspace anymore. After googling and reading some forum posts I found a workaround.
The trick is to log into the Gmail account you use for Gspace first and while leaving that connected you open a new tab and click on Gspace in the Tools menu and it will then login to Gspace automatically.”
Incidentally, I originally had problems with the Flash Reader v.9 using IE7 - but not with Firefox!
All of these problems are, of course, the result of several different technologies trying to interact with each other. And, as Mozilla pointed out, if Adobe Flash Reader was also Open Source software, then the conflict problems would be much easier to solve.

In the end the only solution that works for me is to click on the help button and then click on Repair Extensions/Themes List. This seems to work for me, but I have to do it each day that I start up my computer.
