My Latest Experiment - It’s Another Free Resource
A few days ago, when browsing a blog, I noticed that most of the links had a little symbol next to them. When I moused over the link or the symbol, a window popped up, showing me a preview of the page that the link pointed to.
I’d stumbled across “Snap”!
This is a completely free resource - and it can even generate income for you. It works on both web pages and blogs, and it’s pretty easy to install.
As Confucius said, “One showing is worth a thousand tellings”, so let me show you “Snap” at work on my blog:

Look for any link with a little “speech bubble” symbol to the right of it and put your cursor over it. You’ll get a small preview of the target web page, some a.dvertising (which might be an a.d for my Webmasters CheatKit) and a link to the snap.com website.
So, what are the benefits for you as a blogger or website owner? I see two advantages of using this system:
- It can enhance your blog / website visitor’s experience, and maybe impress them that you’re a pretty sharp cookie.
- It can generate income for you. You can set up the a.d space on your snap popup with either some Google AdSense a.ds (linked to your AdSense account) or you can put your text or image a.d in the space. I think that you get maybe 10 - 20% of the a.d spaces displayed. I’m not sure of the exact figure. I’ve opted to display an image a.d for my Webmasters CheatKit product range.
I’m going to run it on my blog for a few weeks or so, and then perhaps roll it out on to some of my websites.
It’s worth looking at. Here’s where you can get your Snap account:

It’s not perfect. The previews sometimes take a few seconds to load - and it crashed my browser once. But, apart from that, I had no problems.
