Project #4: My Webmaster Resources Kit
(Nothing to do with Viralized.com!)
I’d already decided to add some new videos to the Training Area inside the Download Library - showing you how to use “cPanel”, the very powerful and popular front end to many web hosting accounts (see below).
I then started to think about other resources which webmasters need today. You see, when I first started to build websites about ten years ago, life was a lot simpler.
There was no choice of fonts or colours, images were being used sparingly, and, with a good modem speed being about 14.7 kbps, there was no prospect of adding stuff such as audio, video and all the other things we expect from a website today.
And that’s the problem. Because, although people expect so much more from a website than they used to, the web building skills of most people haven’t increased in proportion.
So what’s the answer? Well, unless you splash out and hire in a code junkie to do the techie stuff for you, the solution is to do what I do. Cheat!
Well, not really “cheat”. What I mean is that, when I want, for example, to put an audio clip onto a site, I don’t sit down and write all the code from scratch. Of course I don’t! I use a bit of software, such as “Impact Web Audio”.
And if I want to add in something driven by a script, I look around and find one which has been written by someone else.
The problem is knowing where to find the stuff - and knowing if it’s any good or not. There’s a lot of rubbish out there.
So, I spent hours combing my eLibrary on my hard drive, finding, testing and, mainly rejecting, a whole shed full of tools, scripts and other webmaster resources. And I ended up with what I consider to be some real gems - about 130 Mb of the stuff!
I’ve now put them together in one monster bundle:
“The Webmaster Resources Kit”:

I’ll not spend time here describing what’s in the Kit - have a look at the above page to get more details. What I will say here is that I’ve included several items which I’m currently selling - one of them at the same price I’ve set for the Kit. That makes it highly affordable.
Also, I found - and included - something which I’d had on my hard drive for months and had ignored. When I looked closer at it, I realised how valuable it was. I think that it could well form the basis for one or two new and significantly innovative products I could be launching sometime in the future. I explain for about this resource here:

By the way, I’m probably not going to keep this sales page up for more than a couple of weeks or so. I have plans for it!
